The Chalk and Cheese in Maiden Newton has closed it’s doors. Here is another pub which had appeared to be successfully run for several years after a lengthy closure which has now closed again. The Dorset Echo has this weeks news here. “Landlord Al Murray took up his role at the Maiden Newton pub in February 2009 after spending six years in the Royal Navy.” It looks as though this is another situation which a landlord and a big pub-owning chain – Punch Taverns – can’t find away to make make it work over the long term.
