South West Dorset CAMRA (as the branch was originally known) was formed on Tuesday 20th January 1976. We had hoped to start our 50th anniversary celebrations in the place where the branch was founded, but as many of you will know, The Weatherbury Hotel is currently shut, and its future is uncertain. Undeterred, we will be gathering outside The Weatherbury on the evening of Tuesday 20th January 2026 at 18:45, to show our support for the pub and the many others that are under threat of closure.
We will then follow, as far as possible, the route that our founding members took on the first branch social 50 years ago, including The Park, The Dolphin, The Duke of Albany and The Duke of Cornwall.
