The Elm Tree Inn closed in November 2023, and The Friends of the Elm Tree aim to bring the pub into Community Ownership for the benefit of the Village of Langton Herring and its visitors.
Their aim is to raise £650,000 through a share offering and donations.

There was an open meeting on Tuesday 22nd October at 7pm in Easton Methodist Church, Portland,under the banner of The Pulpit Project, where proposals to purchase the Pulpit Inn will beoutlined.
The pub was recognised as an Asset of Community Value in 2022.
