Best Pub award for Queens Arms, Corton Denham

This just in from Jeanette Reid at The Queens Arms, Corton Denham, Somerset, DT9 4LR:

“We are delighted to announce that on Tuesday 10th September at  the Taste of Somerset 2013 awards held at Haselbury Mill, Crewkerne Somerset, The Queens Arms won the Best Pub category.

We are pleased to be recognised by our customers for our philosophy of measuring our food in meters not miles and for sourcing only local fresh ingredients alongside using our own produce from our farm.

This award builds on our awards received last year – National Best Freehouse (Great British Pub Awards) and CAMRA Somerset Cider Pub of the Year.

Gordon, Jeanette and Kyle (the owners) would like to thank our customers and suppliers for their continued support.

To celebrate this award we will be holding a joint party with Moor Beer Company who recently won a Silver award at the GBBF for their Revival. The Queens Arms was the first pub to support this local brewer and take his ales and Revival is known as The Queens Revival at the Pub.

The party will be held on 2nd november from 2pm and any coverage/support is welcome.”

Those of you who are regular readers of the Giant Dongle will know that the Queens arms support us regularly with their adverts, so it is great to hear they are being successful. Dave Harris, Branch Chairman.
